Akron Symphony

Music Director Christopher Wilkins will lead the first concert of the season for the Akron Symphony Orchestra.  Angela Cheng will be the soloist in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21.  The program will also include music of Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov.  The concert takes place on Saturday evening, September 29th, at Akron’s E. J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall.  330-535-8131  

Clague Playhouse

The 91st season for Clague Playhouse will begin with a crime-thriller spoof called The Murder Room.  Performances begin September 14th and run through October 7th.  440-331-0403  

Cleveland Chamber Music Society

The new season of concerts presented by the Cleveland Chamber Music Society will begin with the Jerusalem Quartet performing music of Beethoven, Ravel and Shostakovich on Tuesday evening, October 2nd, at Plymouth Church. 216-291-2777  

Cleveland Institute of Music

Guest Conductor Thomas Wilkins leads the CIM Orchestra in a concert at Severance Hall on Wednesday evening, September 26th, with music of Shostakovich, Walton and Tchaikovsky.  The concert is free, but tickets are required.  216-231-1111  

Cleveland Orchestra

Music Director Franz Welser-Moest will lead the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall on Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon, September 27th and 30th,  with Yefim Bronfman as soloist in Bela Bartok’s Piano Concerto no. 2 ad well as Prokofiev’s First and Third Symphonies.  On Saturday evening, September 29th, it’s the Orchestra’s 100th Anniversary Gala Concert with Lang Lang is soloist in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24. 216-231-1111  

Cleveland Playhouse

The 2018-2019 season of the Cleveland Playhouse begins with Susan Hill’s The Woman in Black.  It’s playing in the Allen Theater in Playhouse Square September 15th through October 7th.   216-241-6000  

Dobama Theater

Dobama Theater’s new season begins with Sunset Baby running September 7th through 30th.  216-932-3396  

Great Lakes Theater Festival

The musical Mamma Mia opens the season for the Great Lakes Theater Festival at the Hann Theater in Playhouse Square.  It’s playing September 28th through November 11th.  216-241-6000  

Les Delices

Les Delices will begin its tenth anniversary season with a special all-day event called Fortepiano Day with pianist Sylvia Berry Saturday, September 29thThere’ll be a lecture-demonstration, a segment introducing pre-college students to early pianos, and an afternoon concert, all at Herr Chapel at Plymouth Church.  She’ll also be taking part with Les Delices in the opening concerts October 4th through 7th .  216-302-8404  

Lorain County Civic Orchestra

The next concert of the Lorain County Civic Orchestra will include music by Gabrieli, Lalo, Boccherini, Richard Arnel and William Rayer.  It takes place at Stocker Center at Lorain County Community College on Friday and Saturday evenings, September 28th and 29th

Night in Vienna

Pianist Jan Jiracek von Arnim will present A Night in Vienna, a blend of music and conversation, at Cleveland State University on Monday afternoon, October 1st in Waetjen Auditorium. 216-831-1044 

Playhouse Square

The national tour of the new production of Hello Dolly is at Playhouse Square September 30th through October 21st.   216-241-6000  

Rocky River Chamber Music Society

The Rocky River Chamber Music Society opens its season with Home Grown Stars of Tomorrow, a trio of CIM students playing piano trios by Mozart and Shostakovich on Monday, October 1st at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River.  

Trinity Lutheran Church

The weekly noontime Music Near the Market series at Trinity Lutheran Church on West 30th Street in Cleveland will return beginning October 3rd, when organist Florence Mustric presents Ain’t Nothin’ But a Scale,  featuring music of Handel, Read, Alain and  Bach.  216-281-1700
