Music Director Christopher Wilkins will lead the first concert of the season for the Akron Symphony Orchestra. Angela Cheng will be the soloist in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21. Music Director Franz Welser-Moest will lead the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall on Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon, September 27th and 30th, with Yefim Bronfman as soloist in Bela Bartok’s Piano Concerto no. 2 ad well as Prokofiev’s First and Third Symphonies. The musical Mamma Mia opens the season for the Great Lakes Theater Festival at the Hann Theater in Playhouse Square. It’s playing September 28th through November 11th. 216-241-6000
Les Delices will begin its tenth anniversary season with a special all-day event called Fortepiano Day with pianist Sylvia Berry Saturday, September 29th. There’ll be a lecture-demonstration, a segment introducing pre-college students to early pianos, and an afternoon concert, all at Herr Chapel at Plymouth Church. Lorain County Civic Orchestra
The next concert of the Lorain County Civic Orchestra will include music by Gabrieli, Lalo, Boccherini, Richard Arnel and William Rayer. It takes place at Stocker Center at Lorain County Community College on Friday and Saturday evenings, September 28th and 29th.
